Farewell to Two Long Standing Board Directors

L-R Colm Clifford and Eimear Cowhey step away from the basis.point Board of Directors

It is never easy to bid farewell to two longstanding directors, but as we enter our second decade and continue to grow apace, we recognise that moments of transition are also moments of renewal.

We wish to express our deepest gratitude to Eimear Cowhey and Colm Clifford, who are stepping down from the Board after many years of exceptional service. Working together, their leadership, dedication, and vision have left an enduring legacy and built a strong foundation for sustained growth and deeper impact across the charity’s work.

Eimear has been a driving force since the earliest days of basis.point. As one of the founders alongside Adrian Waters, her visionary commitment to “joined up giving” established a new model of philanthropy in Ireland. One that meaningfully connects funds industry colleagues with charities striving to improve educational opportunities for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Her leadership has supported transformative work across organisations such as Foróige, Archways, and the Early Learning Initiative.

Through her belief in early intervention, national expansion, and systemic change, thousands of children now begin their educational journeys with the language, literacy, and numeracy skills they need to thrive.

Colm has likewise played a pivotal role in strengthening basis.point through his financial expertise, steady governance, and early advocacy for the charity’s mission. His strategic leadership has enabled the organisation to grow responsibly and sustainably, ensuring that support reaches the young people who need it most.

Colm’s commitment to financial stewardship, combined with a sense of fun and a collaborative spirit, has made him a highly valued colleague and trusted leader.

His early and visionary financial guidance contributed profoundly to the meaningful change thousands of young people have experienced through basis.point partnerships, notably with Teen Turn and other youth focused organisations. He leaves the charity in a stronger, more resilient, and more impactful position.

As two of the original directors, Eimear and Colm helped turn a powerful idea into a thriving organisation that is changing futures across Ireland. Their contribution will continue to guide us as we deepen our impact and expand opportunities for young people. We thank them sincerely for their remarkable service.

On behalf of the Board, the team, our partner organisations, and the many young people whose lives have been touched by their leadership, we extend our heartfelt thanks to both Eimear and Colm.
Their belief, passion, and unwavering dedication have helped shape the future of basis.point and the futures of the young people we are privileged to serve.
