ELI PCHP Programme

ELI has been doing great work over the past number of months, and one of the main events has been the Dublin Parent Child Home Programme (“PCHP”) 2017 Graduation in June. It was a beautiful day and a proud moment for all involved. Congratulations to all the families who attended the PCHP 2017.

Suas pilot numeracy programme

The basis.point Suas pilot numeracy project to which basis.point donated €35,000 is nearing completion. 48 children from 4 disadvantaged schools and 24 mentors have participated in this programme. So far the project has gone smoothly, and an evaluation will be carried out based on the qualitative and quantitive date being collected during the pilot programme.

Suas was basis.point’s third grant and through support from basis.point, Suas designed, piloted and evaluated an innovative new numeracy intervention targeted at children with low achievement scores in urban, disadvantaged schools.

The numeracy intervention is similar to Suas’ literacy interventions in that it provides children who are struggling with numeracy an opportunity for repeated practice, further explanation and reinforcement, delivered in a 1-to-1 coaching session.

The results have been very positive and indicated that the younger age bracket (aged 8-9) and children with lower standard scores benefitted the most from the intervention. The average maths age of children mentored by Transition Year students increased by 4 months over the 1 month pilot. That’s a 400% improvement in the normal rate of progress for the children that the programme supported.

Suas is now in a position to run 16 projects in Autumn 2017 and use the outcomes of those projects to support expansion of the programme in 2018 – benefitting more and more children who need the support. Well done to all involved![/vc_column_text][ultimate_spacer height=”20″ height_on_tabs=”20″ height_on_tabs_portrait=”20″ height_on_mob_landscape=”20″ height_on_mob=”20″][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”2715″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”2714″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”2713″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][ultimate_spacer height=”20″ height_on_tabs=”20″ height_on_tabs_portrait=”20″ height_on_mob_landscape=”20″ height_on_mob=”20″][vc_column_text]

Archways Incredible Years and Mentoring for Achievement Programmes

On meeting with Archways, we were delighted to hear the great work which is being completed through both the Incredible Years (“IY”) and the Mentoring for Achievement (“MAP”) programmes in disadvantaged areas of Dublin, Cork and Limerick which basis.point has provided funding for.

The meeting gave a great insight into the work being performed and the multiplier effect being seen through the different programmes.

For Cork, Archways now has 11 schools/community organisations signed up to part take in the programme which is starting there in September 2017 funded by basis.point.[/vc_column_text][ultimate_spacer height=”20″ height_on_tabs=”20″ height_on_tabs_portrait=”20″ height_on_mob_landscape=”20″ height_on_mob=”20″][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”2716″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]
