Brains, Banter & Big Impact!

DJ Niall Dalton rocks the boat with his music round at the Battle of the Firms!
What a night! A wild Thursday in October, the Irish funds industry came together for an unforgettable evening of wit, laughter, and purpose at the annual basis.point Battle of the Firms Table Quiz.
Now in its sixth year, the quiz has become a highlight of basis.point week, and this year’s showdown was the most spirited yet, with 32 teams competing for glory and bragging rights.
Quiz Champions Crowned

L-R MC Jennifer Dobbyn with Battle of the Firms Walkers winners Grainne Denihan, Cian Carton and Ciara Kearney
Despite being a team of just three, Walkers’ “No Need for Redemption” proved unstoppable, storming to victory with sharp minds and sharper teamwork. Their win was a masterclass in style and smarts.
Hot on their heels were Principal Asset Management’s “The Principal Invincibles” and Brown Brothers Harriman’s “It’s an Accrual World”, who battled fiercely for second and third place.
The competition was tight, the banter was flowing, and the spirit of friendly rivalry lit up the room.
A Night of Fun, Frolics & Fantastic Vibes
With DJ Niall Dalton turning up the energy, the quiz was more than just a battle of brains – it was a celebration of community. Jennifer Dobbyn kept the night moving as a fantastic MC, and the incredible BBH volunteer team once again delivered a flawless event. Their dedication – from compiling questions to managing scores – makes this night possible, and we are deeply grateful.
A Moment of Reflection

Teen-Turn ambassador Rachel Odunuga shares her story.
Amid the fun, we paused to remember why we gather. Rachel Odunuga, a Teen-Turn participant, shared her inspiring journey – highlighting how support from basis.point and its educational partners has helped shape her educational path and personal growth.
Rachel was about 15 when she first came across Teen-Turn. Their online STEM inside course was a lifesaver for the 15 year old Rachel who was confined to her room during COVID. Mentorship helped her to figure out a potential career path and she is now a final year student studying Astro Physics in UCD.
Her story was a powerful reminder that behind every quiz question and every team cheer, there’s a deeper purpose: creating opportunities for young people to thrive.
