Richard Day runs Boston Marathon April 2019

basis.point is proud to be an official partner of one of our Patrons John Hancock in the Boston Marathon Non-Profit Programme which provides over 1000 Boston Marathon bibs to select non-profit organisations throughout the community.

On April 15th one of our Patrons, Richard Day  from ML Capital will be running in the world-renowned Boston Marathon on behalf of basis.point and has set himself a fantastic fundraising target of €50,000.

The Boston Marathon is one of those inspirational events that connects the entire world in a spirit of competition, camaraderie and community. We’re trying to harness this energy and raise important funds to open doors through education.

Two of the programmes we support are helping children and families in the community local to the Funds Industry. Through the Incredible Years Programme (run by Archways) and the Parent Child Home Programme (run by The Early Learning Initiative (ELI) of The National College of Ireland) we can prepare children for later success in school.

The ELI employs specially trained local women to visit the families in their own homes.

“I just found the programme is amazing. My child looks forward to the home visitor coming every week”

€50,000 will go a long way, allowing us to expand the geographic reach of these already proven initiatives. We are half way to hitting our fundraising target, thanks to very generous donations from many Corporate and Individual Patrons including KPMG, Maples, ML Capital, Northern Trust and RiskSystem.

Competing in the 2019 Boston Marathon won’t be easy. Richard will be running alongside elite, world class athletes as well as many other weekend warriors, many of whom are connected to extraordinary causes.

Thanks to our newly formed basis.point supporter committee, Richard received a welcome boost to his training last Thursday, when he was joined on a run by a number of supporters, home visitors from ELI, friends and colleagues on a wild and blustery Dublin morning.

By addressing the issue of educational disadvantage together we are making a difference to children’s lives throughout Ireland. Support us. Get behind us. Joined up giving makes a difference.
