September 2022 basis.point Bulletin
Regional expansion as funding outside of Dublin tops €2.1million
Educational inequality continues to be a persistent feature of the Irish educational landscape. Completion rates in schools serving areas of acute economic disadvantage are statistically and significantly lower than in schools serving more affluent populations (Houses of Oireachtas, 2019). Our investment is education is levelling the playing field, but we need to do more.
We were delighted to be recognised at the Charity Excellence Awards for the work we do inspiring colleagues from within the Irish Funds industry to join together to combat educational disadvantage.
Take a moment, to read about a recent road trip to Cork where we talked to young people involved in some of our regional programmes. And once inspired, why not sign up to the RBC Race for the Kids. You can walk, cycle or run. Funding this year is going towards providing laptops for teen girls from under resourced communities, helping them in partnership with Teen-Turn, to develop the skills to participate in the 21st century workplace.
This is something we can all do! Let’s get our trainers on.
