Courage to change as young voices lead the way.

Girls from St Mary’s National School in Clondalkin, have the courage to share their hope for the future.

Courage, collaboration and partnership were demonstrated in all their glory at this year’s Showcase, focusing on our ability to be stronger together and generously hosted by Prestige Patron HSBC.

A group of young students, stood in front of a room full of corporate patrons, supporters and volunteers and sang with a courage that couldn’t fail but to move us. Coming from communities where opportunities are too often limited, their voices carried hope, pride and a glimpse of what’s possible when support meets potential.

A warm welcome from Laura Trimble, CEO HSBC Ireland

This year, Showcase 26 shone the spotlight on many successful partnerships and encouraged each of us to explore opportunities to further amplify our own impact by developing new partnerships or increasing our individual giving.

Laura Trimble, CEO HSBC Ireland, opened the event highlighting the benefits of HSBC’s longstanding partnership with Foróige.

Now in it’s 5th year, they recently announced funding for the Foróige 2468 project affords their team further opportunities to build relationships and to get actively involved in their local community, Dublin South Inner City.

Struggling as a young teen, he credits Fighting Words with giving him back a sense of self and a love of creative writing.

Ada Wuddah faces a future with confidence, clarity and belief

Aba Wuddaha reflected on how her internship in partnership with Teen-Turn and BNY has changed the way she sees herself.

Growing up in a single family household, she lacked professional role models and had a fear of being behind more advantaged young students.

Her experience at BNY taught her to trust her own voice with confidence, clarity and belief.

Teen-Turn didn’t just give me opportunities, it helped me to grow into them. These experiences helped me understand that our background does not determine our future.

Now a first year Law student at UCD, Ada is forging an exciting path forward. Her future looks very bright indeed.

Lisa Farrely shares the struggles facing young families experiencing homelesness

A further example of the power of partnership is the Home from Home programme delivered by the Early Learning Initiative. Additional funding through BNP Paribas, enabled ELI to adapt their existing parenting programme to accommodate the specific needs of families living with homelessness.

Lisa Farrely, is one of the home visitors uniquely equipped to share parenting skills with extremely vulnerable families and shared her insights.  Having experienced homelessness herself as a child, she remembers not knowing where she would be going home, not being able to invite friends home and frequently not getting her homework done.

The Home from Home programme helps vulnerable families overcome anxiety and social isolation, helping them to build new communities, regain confidence as parents and move forward and thrive.

Singing Courage to Change using Irish Sign Language (ISL)

Nurturing positive mental health and resilience, has never been so important as it is today and programmes such as the Kiva Antibullying Programme offer a wonderful opportunity for partnership with local communities.

It was left to our youngest guests to demonstrate the powerful culture shift made possible through our partnership with Archways. With hope and optimism they touched the hearts of each of us present and challenged us to reflect on how we could make this happen.

Have I the courage to change? World! I want to leave you better. I want my life to matter.

Showcase 26 treated us to the impact of basis.point and our collaborative giving in real time: creating pathways, opening doors and reminding us that talent is universal even if opportunity is not. With privilege comes responsibility.  So if like the girls, you want to leave the world a better place, stand up and be counted.  Now is your moment.
