Volunteers: the heart of change at basis.point

Gerry Kelly, Caceis, with Michelle Kehoe and Stephen Dwyer Fund Recs, bring their smiles to a day of volunteering!

At a time when one in five children in Ireland lives below the poverty line, the need for community action has never been greater. Over the past few months, our volunteers and partners have shown what’s possible when people come together to create brighter futures.

Collaboration on the Green:
At the KPMG Women’s Irish Open, Amundi and a team of volunteers from CACEIS, MUFG Investor Services, FundRecs Waystone and Vanguard created a buzz with the Amundi Long Putt challenge.

It was a fun weekend and a great chance for industry colleagues to work together. Thanks to Amundi matching all donations, every putt helped support young people’s education.

Corporate Volunteering at Its Best:
In July, PwC Ireland’s “One Firm, One Day” saw a remarkable team of volunteers transform community spaces across Dublin in just one day. From painting and gardening to supporting STEM and storytelling events, their energy brought new life to four of our educational partners.

Sports for Life & Wellbeing:

This summer, 40 volunteers from Citi, Ocorian, Vanguard Ireland, CACEIS, and Ogier helped deliver our Sports for Life & Wellbeing programme in partnership with TU Dublin. Their 287 volunteer hours supported 386 first-year students from nine DEIS schools, combining study-skills, wellbeing workshops, and sports tasters. Two-thirds of participants now aspire to third-level education—a testament to the power of early intervention and encouragement.

Sustainable Giving: Turning Office Upgrades into Educational Tools

Volunteering isn’t only about giving time — it can also be about repurposing resources for impact. One of our Patron organisations, Maples, recently upgraded their office hardware and chose to donate 50 monitors rather than send them to landfill. These monitors have found new homes in four inner-city DEIS schools that participate in our Junior Cycle workshop with TU Dublin.

Each school received 10 monitors, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. This thoughtful act of sustainability and generosity is already enhancing the learning environment for students who need it most.

Community in Action:
We’re also proud to partner with Olivier Meisonnave of DAX Restaurant, whose year-long commitment donates €3 per cover to basis.point. Olivier’s generosity is a reminder that change starts with people who care enough to act, supporting educational initiatives that help children break the cycle of disadvantage.

Thank You for Being the Difference
To every volunteer, partner, and supporter: your time, energy, and compassion are changing lives. Together, we’re building a more inclusive Ireland—one act of kindness at a time.

When it comes to volunteering, each and every one of you can make a difference.  We would be delighted to explore other creative volunteering experiences with our Prestige and Premier Patrons. Please contact Sharon Lett at basis.point or talk to Edel O’Malley if you would like to upgrade your patronage in order to tailor a volunteering activity for your team.
