Basis.point announces new board members

We’re pleased to announce that Paul McNaughton and Pat Wall have been newly appointed to our board. These appointments reflect the importance that the charity places on future expansion and growth.

Paul McNaughton has over 30 years’ experience in the Banking/Finance, Fund Management & Securities Processing Industries. In addition Paul spent 10 years with IDA (Ireland) both in Dublin and in the USA marketing Ireland as a location for multinational investment. He went on to establish Bank of Ireland’s IFSC Fund’s business before joining Deutsche Bank to establish their funds business in Ireland. He was overall Head of Deutsche Bank’s Offshore Funds business, including their hedge fund administration businesses primarily based in Dublin and the Cayman Islands, before assuming the role of Global Head of Deutsche’s Fund Servicing business worldwide.

Paul left Deutsche Bank in August 2004 after leading the sale of Deutsche’s Global Custody and Funds businesses to State Street Bank and now acts as an advisor and non-executive director for several investment companies and other financial entities. Paul is a director of the Irish stock Exchange.

Paul holds an Honours Economics Degree from Trinity College Dublin. He was the founding Chairman of Irish Funds formerly the Irish Funds Industry Association and a member of the Irish Government Task Force on Mutual Fund Administration. He was instrumental in the growth of the funds business in Ireland both for traditional and alternative asset classes.

Pat Wall has over 30 years’ experience in the Tax/Legal services, Fund Management & Governance industries in Ireland. Pat was previously a partner in International Tax Structuring with PwC where he specialised in international taxation with a particular focus on the asset management and insurance industries. He now acts as an advisor and non-executive director for several investment companies and other financial entities, most recently for White Oak ICAV.

Pat has been associated with the development of Dublin’s financial services sector from its inception and has played an important role in the development of Ireland’s tax policy on international financial services. Pat was Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce Tax Policy Group for three years and is a member of the OECD working group on taxation of funds which focuses on tax treaty access for funds and the taxation of international portfolio investments. Pat has also worked with the IDA in the development of its marketing policy and is a frequent speaker and writer on international financial topics.

Pat has actively contributed to over 20 committees/groups on the topics of Governance, Policy formation and leadership/management.
