Welcome to the basis.point bulletin, our newsletter to keep our community informed whether you’re new to us or an old friend
basis.point is the Irish Fund Industry’s initiative to come together to help make a difference to those in need. As an industry, we have been lucky and avoided the worst of the recession that has caused considerable hardship for many people in Ireland.
Recognising this, a group of individuals considered how we could make a difference.
Governance and Structure
We are delighted to announce that Eimear Cowhey has been appointed as Chairperson of the Board. We’d like to thank Adrian Waters for his great work and commitment to basis.point as Chairperson for the last number of years and we’re delighted that Adrian will remain a valued Board member.
We would also like to announce that Aidan Tiernan is now chair of the Disbursements Committee taking over from Fiona Mulcahy who we’d also like to thank for her hard work and dedication to the Committee.
basis.point disbursements announcement
We are delighted to announce, that in addition to The Archways and ELI/NCI basis.point initiatives we have now added a third grantee. In September 2016 basis.point approved its third grant in relation to a numeracy intervention pilot programme that is being administered by Suas.
Hear from our Patrons
Our patrons are the reason we can continue to give back. We speak to Daria L. Foster, Managing Partner of Lord Abbett & Co LLC, about what it means to be a patron and how you can also get involved.
Hear from our volunteers
Our volunteers are essential to the success of basis.point. Declan O’Sullivan, Partner at Dechert and volunteer with basis.point, talks about his involvement with basis.point and we provide information on how you can also get involved.
Patron sign-up grows
We are delighted to announce that we have continued to grow our patron numbers and reach our targets. Excluding our events, our Patron income is now running at €220,000 per annum. This is no humble achievement so thank you all for your continuing support.
The 2016 basis.point Corporate Golf Challenge was held on Friday 23rd of September 2016. The event has quickly become one of the main social events for the Irish funds industry and was a great success. Thank you to all who attended.
Our 2017 Spring Lunch will be held on 3 March 2017 in Fire Restaurant. This is our third annual lunch and the largest to date with over 200 guests joining us.
Please save the date for the basis.point Corporate Golf Challenge, which will be held on Friday 22 September 2017. This is always a great event so make sure to put it in your diary now!
We very much welcome any way in which you can help us make a sustainable and tangible difference to the lives of those living in poverty, particularly young people, by supporting charities that focus on education.
Patrons and volunteers are essential to the work we do so find out how you can get involved and make a difference.
We would be particularly interested in extra support from marketing and media professionals so please get in touch if you are interested.
