New horizons for Belvedere Youth Club

As part of the basis.point strategy to meet our ESG social sustainability obligations by 2025, we have ringfenced €100,000 ‘Special Situations fund’ to respond quickly to one off needs. We are delighted to see our first grant to Belvedere Youth Club for a new minivan, making an impact.

Belvedere Youth Club has been running a variety of educational and recreational programmes for young people in the North East Inner City from the ages of 7-24 years for over a hundred years. In many ways they are the backbone of the community, providing hot meals and a safe space for vulnerable children as well as literacy and remedial education.

Their new minivan, funded by basis.point , will help expand their horizons further. It opens the door for sports, educational and fun day trips, visits to the seaside, music festivals and even short holidays to the Belvedere Youth Centre summer house in Wexford. Memories of childhood that without BYC many of the kids from the area would be denied.

Thank you to Jenny Courtney for showing us around the facility. One 17-year-old club member reflects;

“The club was my only means of recreational activity growing up. I loved coming to the club to play with my friends and this gave me the opportunity make new ones also. I would run straight home from school, quickly change my uniform and race down the club so I could get in quick to meet my friends. My favourite memories of growing up in the youth club were being involved in various different sporting activities and summer camp trips to Wexford”.

Sincere thanks to all our Patrons and Supporters for making this happen.
